Palliative care services aim to relieve pain and improve the quality of life of terminally ill or elderly patients. It also allows the caregiver to monitor the symptoms and collect vital data when providing in-home care.

client contacted Genetech Solutions to help them create a scheduling platform to organize schedules with registered caregivers, patients, and care coordinators. The result is a responsive web app with a web-based admin panel.

Opportunity / Challenge
- Caregiving practitioners often face the challenge of increasing requirements and scheduling issues with in-home patient care. They also need to do a lot of data collection on paper and then enter that data into some system manually.
- The platform is straightforward and solves a real-world problem, which is scheduling, data collection, and reporting of in-home patient care. Caregivers can now directly check in at the location of a patient at the scheduled time and enter their data directly, and this will help create a seamless experience for both the caregiver and the patient.
- We want to facilitate the patients and their family and friends to ensure that the patient is well cared for and have access to quality in-home care.

The Solutions
- We created a CRUD operations database for managing the data of caregivers and patients in real-time. It is a simple SaaS for admins and cares coordinators to monitor security control and access.
- The web app has two reporting systems with form approval mechanisms. Caregivers can fill out daily, and monthly assessments of patients' health conditions, and care coordinators can add comments and approve/disapprove them.
- Daily reports are active for 24 hours, after which they are marked as pending, so caregivers have time to fill in and submit the reports. This data is then compiled into multiple reports assessing the quality of service and patients’ health. There is also a monthly scoring criterion to see the patient’s progress.
- The scheduling system can allow the assignment of multiple caregivers to a patient, multiple caregivers under a care coordinator and also resolve any available conflicting issues to ensure productivity. All scheduling is done by the care coordinators.
- To establish quality and control, admins are solely responsible for manually assigning the roles of care coordinator, caregiver, and patient, to all registered users. Once the admin signs up a user, their credentials are emailed to them.
The Process
Step 01
Genetech Solutions provided a small team of developers to work collaboratively with the customer and built a web app and admin panel that is easy to navigate.
Step 02
We are also providing maintenance for the platform and are currently in the process of adding more features to it.
The Outcome
The product is being used by multiple care coordinators, caregivers, and patients across the US on daily basis. It is a step in the way of creating helpful health tech products to provide the best possible palliative care to patients and help their loved ones by sharing their care work responsibilities.
The product is currently being maintained by Genetech Solutions, and we are working on a roadmap to enhance and scale it.
Stats
Currently, the platform is serving a few dozen patients and has a few thousand filled-in forms with patient health data.
